Translation means transferring a written, or recorded spoken, text produced in the source language into a written text in the target language while using the appropriate linguistic means to convey the same meaning and to realize the same communicative intention.
The target text is not a word-for-word substitution of the source text. A well-translated target text sounds at least as natural as the source text, uses the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation, follows the applicable typographical conventions, adheres to the standard terminology of the particular field and considers the relevant cultural background of the target audience.
As two pairs of eyes see more than one, every translation should be proofread by another linguist. The proofreading stage is part of our standard procedure unless it is explicitely not required. Since it must be carried out by another professional, it is considered, and charged for as, a separate service.
Regular clients may require terminology management services to ensure terminological consistency of both translated texts (possibly provided by multiple suppliers) and original texts in a particular language.
